The Cure No Doctor Could Give

"Now a woman , having a flow of blood for twelve years, who had spent ALL her livelihood on physicians and could NOT be healed by ANY, cam from behind and touched the border of his garment.
And immediately her flow of blood stopped." Luke 8:43, 44
We live in a world where the moment we experience symptoms, we call the doctor. There is a prescription for ailment we can possibly imagine. Yet we are the sickest country in the free world. If you have a chronic illness, you can relate to the woman with the issue of blood. Often finding yourself going from doctor to doctor, seeking a remedy, yet finding none. I believe God has provided physicians with the knowledge they have to help in time of need. The problem is we go against the Word of God in using them as our ultimate authority and first response, instead of being led by God to seek their help. The writer of the above verse, Luke, was a physician himself. I think that speaks to the validity of the profession. Yet, even he noted that ONLY God could heal the woman with the issue of blood, and He healed her in an instant.
I know God still heals and I know He can heal any one of us in an instant. Oftentimes I think He is waiting on us to place our faith and trust in Him. The woman with the issue of blood suffered for years we are told. And spent her livelihood going from doctor to doctor. Yet, when she became desperate enough to rely on Jesus alone, literally pushing her way through the crowds to get to Him, she was immediately healed.
What Jesus tells her should give us all pause. In verse 48 these are His words,
"Daughter, be of good cheer, your faith has made you well. Go in peace."
We should not live in fear of calling a doctor when we are sick. It just shouldn't be our first reaction. The Word of God clearly tells us time and time again that God heals, delivers and sets us free from sickness, disease and suffering. We must ask ourselves
"Am I calling on God first?"
The Bible says, "Seek ye FIRST the Kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things will be added unto you."
I encourage you today. Spend some extra time in the Word, and prayer. Seeking the face of God for wisdom, healing, peace and comfort.
Allow Him the space and the faith heal you.
