When is the Best Time to Start a Weight Loss Plan?
"You can make this choice, by loving the Lord your God, obeying Him and committing yourself firmly to Him. This is the key to your life."
Deuteronomy 30:20
When asked, "When is the best time to lose weight?" I often share that I began my last journey toward weight loss on November 30th, 2005. Many people reply, "Why would you ever try and lose weight around the holidays?"
After all, this is the time most people start to say, "Well after the holidays, I'm going to get serious about weight loss."
Be inspired today to realize a few things;
First your journey toward a healthier you is so much more than weight loss.
In fact, when you lose the weight you will be able to tell others, it wasn't about the weight at all.
It was about the weight holding me back from what God really wanted for me.
Secondly, I have come to truly believe over the last few years, that the holiday season is the best season to lose weight. And here's why:
The holidays are full of family traditions and family recipes. What better time to implement new traditions, trying and developing healthy and tasty recipes that can and will become staples for your holiday parties for years to come.
What better incentive for that new suit or dress too. Wouldn't you love to share the following sentiment with your loved ones?
"Hey, I lost 20 pounds, I need some new clothes."
Not to mention, conquering the treats and holiday parties that surround Thanksgiving and Christmas give you the confidence in knowing that you can conquer any battles coming your way in the new year.
More than anything, what about the commitment you could make to your Savior during this season of giving and gratitude? Deep down, you know God wants and needs you to live healthier. For you, for you family; but most of all for Him. What greater gift can you give to Him than to commit to living a healthier life throughout the holidays?
May the blessing of His birth inspire you to start your journey toward health and wellness today, not waiting another minute.
Let's Pray.
Dear God,
I struggle with putting off my weight loss journey. And the world says, "Wait until the new year. Don't try and lose weight during the holidays." God I long to serve You. I believe getting healthy now is the best gift I can give myself, my family and especially You this year. Please help me to find the courage to commit to healthy living now, not waiting until the new year, like I have done so many times in the past. I will always give you the glory, honor and praise.
In the mighty name of Jesus Christ I pray,
Amen

When Is The Best Time To Start A Weight Loss Plan?
You may not be able to control what food you’re served, but implementing the following strategies allows you to stay engaged in your plan and ready to succeed.
1. Invited to a party? Or need to bring a dish for the family gathering? Be the one to offer to bring a healthy dish along. Trust me, someone at the party will thank you!
2. Do you prefer the sweet treats over the main meal? Thats ok. Just try and cut back on the other carb loaded foods, like potatoes and bread. Then, add extra protein to help stave off later hunger pangs.
3. Always try and fill half your plate with veggies and eat them first. It will take the edge off your appetite, filling you up on fewer calories overall.
4. Always remember: If you slip up, just get right back to healthy eating with your next meal or snack.
It's not a sprint, it truly is a marathon.
Implementing healthy strategies today, allows you to cultivate healthy habits for tomorrow! For you, your family, and most of all, your Savior!
