Fight 4 Your Family
"And I looked, and arose and said to the nobles, to the leaders, and to the rest of the people, “Do not be afraid of them. Remember the Lord, great and awesome, and fight for your brethren, your sons, your daughters, your wives, and your houses.”
Nehemiah 4:14
I never realized how my weight affected my family until I began losing the weight, and getting healthy. I had no idea that my short temper, irritability, being tired all the time, and not wanting to go out because I didn't like the way I looked, had anything to do with my weight. I simply thought my life was too stressful, and I was too busy.
Friend, can I encourage you today? If you don't feel like walking out your obedience in your weight loss journey for yourself, will you do it for your family? And in doing so, remember where your help comes from. Nehemiah reminded the leaders as they were preparing to rebuild the temple,
"Remember the Lord!"
As you are in a rebuilding of sorts with your "temple," remember that it is, and will always be the Lord that comes to your aide when this battle seems to much for you to handle.
But He will NEVER let you down.
Your family loves you just the way you are for sure. But know this. As you become healthier, you are teaching them what a life of obedience to God through your health and wellness journey looks like!
Fight for that!
Let's Pray.
Dear God,
Thank You for helping me realize how my health and wellness impacts my family. God, I long to be the best me for You, and my family. Today, I choose to fight this battle for them. I want them to see what serving the Lord by taking care of this temple looks like. I am so grateful that when it seems to hard, I can remember YOU, my great and awesome God! Thank You for teaching me to fight for my family!
In the mighty name of Jesus Christ I pray,
Amen
E4M DAILY STRATEGY
Fight For Your Family
Fight for (and alongside) your family in this journey. Fight for your success by implementing the following strategies:
1. Pray for your family- They need help on this journey, just like you. Pray and ask God to help them make healthy choices too!
2. Prepare meals/shop with them- There is nothing like "hands on" learning. Reading food labels together, exploring new recipes and hanging out in the kitchen preparing meals and snacks is not only a great way to bond, but instills lifelong healthy habits for you and your family.
3. Let them lead- Feeling a sense of autonomy and control over what you eat is important. No one likes to be constantly told, "You can't have this or that." Allowing family members to help make healthy eating decisions gives them a sense of confidence that they can do this too!
4. Compromise- Be willing to compromise, by not eliminating every snack and restaurant that they love, just because you are on a mission to lose this weight, "no matter what!". Offer up healthier options for restaurants and snacks to come to a solution that everyone can live with!
