There is Something You Need to Know

"Many are the afflictions of the righteous but the Lord delivers him out of them all."  
Psalm 34:19

I own a Life Principles Bible written by Dr. Charles Stanley.  Many times in my life I have had to put the life principles Dr. Stanley teaches (along with my knees) to good use in prayer and seeking the Lord. The struggles in life have been all too real.  During a morning prayer walk several years back during a season of intense struggling, I found myself reflecting;
"God, there is NOT one thing or one area I am not struggling in at the moment."  
And it was true.  Tension in my home; marriage and children.  Struggles with my business.  Finances.  Burdens, that with each step seemed to get heavier making it nearly impossible to walk.  
And the tears weren't helping.
Frustrated and feeling so alone.  Wondering why?  When do I get my breakthrough?  When does this get easier?  
In a deep discussion with my children during that season, I realized that we were all walking in adversity simultaneously.  Theirs was different than mine, but we were all at a crossroads, needing to make decisions.
I remember sharing this piece of wisdom with them:  
We can take one road and fall prey to the lies of this world, or we can go in the other direction and continue the journey to become what God designed us to become.  
There are no other options.  
But you can't stay where you are.
We can't often speak publicly of all the fiery darts that Satan releases on us, but many of us have been deeply wounded.
And those wounds leave us at a crossroads.
What will we do with the pain?
Friend, this might be you right now.  You might be at a crossroads in your marriage, or in your weight loss journey.  Or both.  
You might be at a crossroads in your job and fighting to heal broken relationships.
And you have one choice.  
Decide which way to go.
I believe you are just as desperate as I was in that season of my life to become all that God wants; and with that one word comes to mind:
FOCUS.  
"What you focus on is what you DO.  
What you DO is WHO YOU BECOME."
Focus on the struggles, the pain, and the hurt of the situation, and you will inject pain and hurt all around you.  
You become the hurt.  
You are the pain.
Focus on the food and how hard weight loss is, and you will eventually find yourself curled up on the couch with a carton of ice cream a family size bag of Doritos and a sleeve of Oreos.  You have become what you are so desperate to be freed from.
But focus on the Word of God and you will begin living the Word of God, and fulfilling His desire for your life.  You will become what the Word of God says you are:
The Bible calls you;
A child of God (John 1:12)
A friend of Jesus (John 15:15)
Justified and Redeemed (Romans 3:24)
No longer a slave to sin (Romans 6:6)
An heir to His Kingdom (Romans 8:17)
Are you struggling with the cares and burdens of life today?  Focus on the Word of God, and what it says. Escape the chaos of this world through the Word.  Pray and praise your way through your trials and become all that you were destined to become.

Let's Pray
Dear God,
I know You say I am all these things I just read.  And I focus on so many negative things I hear and see in this world.  God I am desperate to become all that You designed me to become.  Help me today to focus on Your Word.  Help me to get out of the worries and cares of this world and escape the pain through praise and prayer.  I know You have me in the palm of Your hand.  I will not worry, I will focus my life on You.
In the mighty name of Jesus Christ I pray,
