Are You Hanging on by a Thread?

When my brother passed away back in 2009, I remember needing to run into Kroger quick the day of the funeral.  I'm not sure what I had to pick up, (I think our whole family was in such a fog during the days and weeks leading up to and following his passing). But I do remember this; all the people I passed by day in and day out.  No one knew my family has just said their last goodbyes to a precious son, brother, and friend.  No one knew the ache in my heart, hurting for my parents.  How do you recover from the loss of a child?  And no one could know that in many ways, we all were barely hanging on by a thread.  
The pain was so deep.

Just this morning, as I was walking through the kitchen, I began to think about others who might be in that same season.  Various circumstances, but still feeling like you are literally hanging on by a thread.  How do you encourage someone in that season?  As I walked by the refrigerator, I saw them; the post-it notes with scriptures and encouraging thoughts about staying healthy.  But one jumped out at me today.
"God will make a way!"
(This one, positioned right underneath one that says,
"God is always faithful and never unfaithful on this journey.)
Funny how these have been stuck to my fridge for months, but it takes a little soul-searching for me to see what's right in front of my eyes.)
-That's another devotion for another day.
I paused.  Has this ever NOT been true?  No, it hasn't.  He truly has always made a way.  Even in the loss of my sweet brother.  We still miss him terribly, but his memory lives on.  
Even those deep blue eyes live on in his precious grandson.
But God made a way for us to heal and move on.

Sweet friend, if you are reading this today, and feeling as though you are barely hanging on by a thread, I want you to know God will make a way for you too.  
The Bible says that we who are strong, ought to bear the burdens of our brothers and sisters when they are weak.  So if you are barely hanging on by a thread to today, I want you to know something.  I am living proof that God always makes a way.  I want you to know that there is someone out there praying for you.  Cheering for you.  And believing for you.
My God.  Your God.  He will make a way.  Even when you can't see it.  Keep hanging on.  God is about to pull you out!

Dear God,
Help me to remember to pray for my brothers and sisters in
Christ.  I don't know what others go through God, but I do know that prayer and praise ushers in Your power to effect change and bring peace.  God help me to bring peace and light into this dark world today.  
I will always give You glory, honor, and praise.
In the mighty name of Jesus Christ I pray,

Are You Hanging On By A Thread?

Sometimes when we feel like we are hanging on by a thread, we must remember to hang onto the truths of God's promises.  Be blessed as you hang onto the following promises.  
And, remember, God will make a way!
1. “Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make straight your paths.”
Proverbs 3:5,6

2. “It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; He will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.”  Deuteronomy 31:8

3. “You will be secure because there is hope; you will look about you and take your rest in safety. You will lie down, with no one to make you afraid, and many will court your favor.” Job 11:18, 19

4. “The righteous cry out, and ; he delivers them from all their troubles. The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” 
Psalm 34:17, 18
