Let's Drink to That
So when the centurion saw what had happened, he glorified God, saying,
“Certainly this was a righteous Man!”
Luke 23:47
I have really been struggling with my water intake the past several weeks. That is, until yesterday. Up until then, I have been unable to find the motivation to get it all in. Succumbing to the temptation of coffee in the mid-afternoon and evening when I should be drinking water. Not making the concerted effort to ensure that I drink my gallon a day. And until waking up this morning, I had not realized the impact it was having on my journey.
Lately I have been feeling more hungry. I have found myself snacking on unhealthy treats. I have noticed that I have been feeling more bloated and more tired than usual. And even though I have been actively trying to live healthier, teaching and encouraging others to do the same for the last fifteen years, I still missed the connection. How did that happen?
Here I am thinking that it must be the weather that is making me tired. It must be the stress of life that is making me hungry. And it's simply my age and hormones causing me to feel bloated.
Satan is so sneaky. He thought he had me.
And then yesterday, I was determined. I was tired of not getting the water in and realizing it does have health benefits that I need. So I did it. I drank my gallon. And you know what? I woke up energized, cleansed, and excited about my day.
I went to the well, so to speak.
How much like this is our daily life? We are tired. We have zero motivation. We are constantly on edge, and succumbing to the temptations to act out in anger and frustration in response to all that is going on around us.
Not making the connection of what is missing in our lives.
The Living Water.
Friend, if we are not starting our day at the well of living water (in God's Word), we are going to find ourselves dry and lifeless. Unable to accomplish all that we were meant to accomplish.
There is a distinct connection between water for our mortal bodies and the living water of God's Word for our spiritual bodies. Both are necessary for us to survive and thrive. But just like the centurion who didn't recognize Jesus for who He really was until He was gone, we too, may not realize the gravitiy of what being without water will do, until it's too late.
Don't be like the centurion today. Make the connection. Start your day off by going to the well. Commit to getting your "water" in. Be encouraged to know that although it takes dedication and commitment, drinking your water will cleanse you, give you energy, and provide you the foundation for complete and total success in life. Just like the living water found in God's precious Word.
Let's Drink To That!
Let's Pray.
Dear God,
I need water. I need the Living Water, and I need to fill my body with water to cleanse the toxins and give me the energy I need to keep going everyday. Thank You for the revelation that although life can be stressful, getting water in everyday is what allows me to be successful and thrive in this life. Today I will drink of the Living Water, and get my gallon in too!
In the mighty name of Jesus Christ I pray,
Amen
