I Survived (And So Will You)
Don't forget the strategy at the bottom!
We want to help you actively practice what you are reading today!
"But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night." Psalm 1:2
Well, they say "That which does not kill you makes you stronger." I'd like to add that it keeps you on your knees too. During a season when my personal Facebook page was quite literally stolen from me, I found myself deep in prayer. Asking God to help me find a solution to what had become an ever growing nightmare. Honestly, until it happened to me, I really didn't think it would be a big deal to have your social media compromised. Frustrating yes, but nothing to lose sleep over.
I was wrong. Way wrong. Seeing your family's pictures, the posts you created, and basically a history of your life over the last several years that you have no access to, can cause a person to feel extremely violated. And I did. Along with spending countless hours seeking help and advice to no avail? It was rough.
Maybe you can relate. Maybe your life has been violated by trauma that you didn't ask for. A life turned in a direction that you didn't want to go. Debt, sickness, divorce, job loss, fear and anxiety.
It all has the same effect. An oppressive cloud that sits on your shoulders pushing you down, down, down. Until you literally feel like you cannot get back up again.
I found myself there. And then God so gently reminded me,
"Why don't you pray to Me while you're down there."
And so I did. Again. And again. And again. And I asked precious friends to pray too. And I can tell you this. Even amid the debilitating frustrations and stress that threatened to consume me, I have had talks with God and experienced fellowship with Him that no amount of stress or frustration can compare to.
I didn't like the outcome of a hacked Facebook account that was never recovered. And you may not like your outcome either. But know this. If you will get down and talk to God, He will lift you up. Just like Isaiah 40:31
"They That Wait Upon The Lord, Shall Renew Their Strength, They Shall Mount Up with Wings of Eagles, They Shall Run and Not Be Weary, They Shall Walk and Not Faint."
God proved Himself so faithful to me during that time. In the moments Satan thought he had me, and I was headed to the pantry, God stopped me. Reminding me there was no real comfort or peace in a bag of chips or a bowl of ice cream.
Comfort comes at Calvary.
The cross of Calvary is a blessed reminder that no matter what I go through down here, Jesus paid the ultimate sacrifice so that my trials could not last forever.
Your trials won't last forever either.
And even though we walk through the valley of the shadow of death, we shall fear no evil. Let's not walk in fear and stress today. We were called to a life of liberty and joy. You have been set free. I have been set free. And whom the Son sets free, is FREE indeed.
Let's Pray.
Dear God,
Everyday is a new opportunity to trust You more. I will take this opportunity and believe that through You I can do all things. I can overcome the fiery darts of Satan, and I can conquer my battles with weight and food. God, I will not live a life of fear. I am free, and I will walk in freedom today. Freedom from oppression and freedom from fear. Thank You God for your endless love and mercy.
In the mighty name of Jesus Christ I pray,
Amen
